Plant-Based Cheesesteak

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • liquid smoke (few drops to your taste)
  • seasoned salt - to taste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (or to your taste)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder (or to your taste)
  • 1 tsp creole seasoning (or to your taste)
  • diced jalapeno peppers optional - to your taste
  • 1 red pepper chopped
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 1 medium white onion chopped
  • 1 can of jackfruit drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup mushrooms chopped
  • lettuce shredded or chopped (optional)
  • tomatoes diced optional diced (optional)
  • plant-based cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • plant-based mayo optional
  • ketchup optional
  • 2 hoggie rolles

Instructions
 

  • Add olive oil to frying pan on medium heat.
    2 tbsp Olive oil
  • Add jackfruit, mushrooms, red pepper, green pepper, medium white onion, soy sauce, liquid smoke, seasoned salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, creole seasoning, diced jalapeno peppers (optional) to pan and stir to mix.
    1 tbsp soy sauce, liquid smoke, seasoned salt, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tsp creole seasoning, diced jalapeno peppers, 1 red pepper, 1 green pepper, 1 medium white onion, 1 can of jackfruit, 1 cup mushrooms
  • Cut up the mixture to your desired consistency to look like chopped steak.
  • Cook until vegetables are tender or to your desired texture for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Add plant-based cheese on top of the mixture in the pan and cover for 1 to 2 minutes to melt the cheese.

  • Spead plant-based mayo or your desired spread on the hoagie roll.

  • Add the plant-based cheesesteak mixture in to the hoagie roll.
  • Add lettuce and tomatoes if desired.

Notes

Add seasonings based on your desired taste. You may find that you need more or less based on your taste.
